The Calle Program aims to ensure that children, adolescents, and young people living on the streets or at high risk live in protective environments, by encouraging mothers, fathers, guardians, and caregivers to practice respectful and positive parenting, and by strengthening support networks that help improve their quality of life.
We promote the exercise of the rights of children and adolescents living on the streets or at high risk so that they are recognized as citizens, establish their identity by obtaining official documents (birth certificates and/or identity cards), and exercise their right to education and participation through advocacy for public policies on child protection at the municipal, departmental, and national levels.
In addition, children, adolescents, and young people develop and strengthen their health management skills, while adolescents, young people, and families increase their income through productive ventures and by strengthening their job-readiness skills.
The direct participants in the project are children and adolescents aged 0 to 18 and young adults aged 19 to 25 who are homeless or at high social risk.
The work is carried out using a systemic methodology that begins by engaging with children and adolescents to identify their interests and needs, continues with family-centered work to understand family structure and dynamics, and incorporates cognitive-behavioral workshops focused on developing social skills, self-care, and the prevention of violence. Complementarily, we work with mothers, fathers, and guardians on positive and respectful parenting, strengthening communication skills and family cohesion.
In addition, we strengthen community networks and initiatives to promote prevention, participation, and collective care in contexts of vulnerability.
